The Reverend Julie Beals
Mo. Julie was born in Nigeria to a British diplomatic family and has lived on five of the six continents. She has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Hispanic Studies from the University of Bristol in the UK, an MBA from the University of Southern California, and a Master's in Divinity from Claremont School of Theology. She was ordained to the priesthood in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles in January 2022.
Mo. Julie moved to Southern California in 1998 and immediately felt that this was her true home! She worked in marketing at a major entertainment studio for six years. Later realizing that her true passion lay in the non-profit world, she transitioned her career path to serve in the field of development at St. James' Episcopal School and the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles, and most recently served as Executive Director of the Los Angeles Community Garden Council for seven years.
Mo. Julie met her now husband, Ken, at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Highland Park. They live in Redondo Beach with their twin daughters, Hazel and Jasmine, and their rescued poodle-mix, Nathan. In her spare time, you can find Mo. Julie surfing, hiking, and practicing yoga.
The Reverend Deacon Christie Mossman
Deacon Christie comes to us from Pacific Palisades CA, where she resides with her husband Christopher. Mother of two grown sons, Bryan and Sam who continue to bring great joy in her life. Deacon Christie brings 14 years of experience as a hospital chaplain at CHLA (Children's Hospital Los Angeles) and Saint John’s Santa Monica. She is a practitioner of spiritual development through Stillpoint, a community for inclusive individual and group spiritual direction. With an academic background in Music Therapy &Theatre at Colorado State, Theology and Pastoral Care at Fuller Theological Seminary, and Anglican studies with Seminary of the Southwest-Iona. Christie’s experience speaks to her enthusiasm in serving God's Church and God's people.
Mariana Macias
Office Administrator
Mariana Macias has been the Office Administrator and Bookkeeper at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and Christ Episcopal Church for more than 13 years. Mariana has a Associate of Science in Accounting. She is a practicing Roman Catholic and lives with her family in Hawthorne.
Kevin Wood
Music Director
Kevin Wood began his tenure as Music Director of Christ Episcopal Church in January of 2017. He is responsible for the creation of the Mutual Ministry Choir and has worked to create a music ensemble within our Church that matches the diversity of experience, traditions and cultures represented in the body of our congregation. Working with both lay and ordained leadership Kevin provides a wide breadth of musical production for the enrichment of all.
Originally from Cody, Wyoming, Kevin has long been a student of music and theatre. He is currently a composer and soloist, with several albums to his credit. Kevin is also a classically trained musician and choir master and has competency in multiple music disciplines, receiving his performance education from Berklee College of Music, in Boston Massachusetts. He also writes and produces music and liturgy for several Episcopal Churches throughout the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. The best way to describe Kevin is to say he is joy filled and a blessing to work with and a positive support for all who are trying to find their voice.
John Koller
Social Media, and Website Manager
John Koller is a proud native of San Francisco and the Bay Area who relocated to Long Beach to receive his MFA (Fine Art) from CSULB in 2002. After graduating with honors, John worked at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising as a web designer, photographer and photo editor for over 10 years before relaunching his full time art studio practice. He has extensive experience working in design, art direction, Advertising, Marketing and Communications and greatly enjoys photography as a hobby.
John currently lives and works in Hillside, Torrance with his lovely wife Marissa and their rescue cat, Tina.
Gary Wood
Buildings and Grounds Supervisor.
Gary moved from Wrightsville Beach, NC, to Venice Beach in 1961 and has made Southern California his home ever since. He retired in September, 2020 from the site services industry after 42 years where his mainstay was outside electrical power distribution for construction and managing, bringing the company from 8 people with one location to 230 people and five locations. He has been working with his fiancé Vivian at a laundry service she owns in Carson. They live onsite at Christ Church Redondo Beach. He also helps his son with his chiropractor office in Riviera Village as needed. He spends most weekends playing beach volleyball. Gary is the proud parent of two and grandfather to three.
